Prospective Students

Dr. Gainforth is currently accepting PhD trainees and post-doctoral researchers in her Applied Behaviour Change (ABC) lab. Our lab focuses on integrated knowledge translation (IKT), behaviour change, and partnership-based spinal cord injury research. We welcome applicants from diverse fields (kinesiology, psychology, public health, rehabilitation, health communication, and implementation science) and are especially interested in candidates eager to evaluate how partnerships, policies, and behaviour change interventions make a real-world impact. 

Work Study Program Work Study is a competitive subsidized employment program that provides students with the opportunity to work on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week.

HES 490 – Project in Human Kinetics (3-6 credits) Provides opportunities to perform research pertaining to a chosen area of Health and Exercise Sciences as agreed upon by a faculty member and student. No more than 6 credits in total will be granted for HES 490. No more than 9 credits for the combination of HES 490, HES 401 and HES 402 . Prerequisite: HES 240 & HES 340; 3rd-year standing and Project approval from prospective supervisor and school director.

HES 492 – Undergraduate Honours Thesis  A research problem in health and exercise sciences under the supervision of a Health and Exercise Sciences faculty member. Students engage in research requiring a written report with a public presentation of the findings. Formerly offered as HMKN 449. Credit will be granted for only one of HES 492 or HMKN 449. Prerequisite: Restricted to students in the B.H.E.S. Honours Program.
